Scabiosa Fama White
Scabiosa Fama White
Scabiosa Fame White is such a special flower. It has a clustered centre with delicate white petals and can be a large flower in the right conditions. The flowers are perfect to use as cut flowers. It is very easy to grow, and is a very hardy palnt. Scabiosa bloom all summer long and will still be producing blooms well into autumn. Bees and butterflies love it. They prefer well-drained soil and a sunny position. Deadheading encourages plants to flower for a prolonged period.
Sowing advice:
Sow in Spring, Early summer or late Summer and Autumn. I prefer to sow in the Autumn or late Summer so it can fatten up over the Winter.
Sow seeds in pots or trays in moist seed raising mix. Cover seed lightly with seed raising mix after sowing as they need light for germination.
Keep the seed raising slightly damp but not wet. Germinates in 2 to 3 weeks.
Prick out seedlings when large enough to handle into 9 to 10cm pots after 4 weeks. Harden off young plants for outdoor conditions before planting out. Space the plants 30 to 60cm apart.
