Basil Microgreen Seed Packs

Basil Microgreen Seed Packs

from NZ$5.00

Basil shoots for microgreens are a tasty addition to salads and soups, with a crisp and refreshing texture. They are slow to mature and need warmer weather so only sow them in the Summer months. You should get 2 cuts of each sowing if you allow cut them in so the seeds below will grow up.

How to grow your microgreens:

  1. Prepare your tray with drainage holes and fill with potting mix (make sure you are wearing a mask).

  2. Sprinkle your seed evenly but generously over the soil. You can sprinkle a little bit of soil over the seeds but I prefer not to.

  3. To assure germination and rapid growth, keep the seed tray moist but not drenched, using a spray bottle to do your watering is the best.

  4. Once they are approximately 5cm long, cut or pick them above the soil line, for the basil microgreen this will be approximately 2 weeks after sowing.

  5. Add to a soup, salad or even your eggs and avo on toast to give that extra boost of nutrients and colour.
