The My First Garden Kit Seed sowing guide:

SUGAR SNAP PEAS:

  1. Sow in Spring or Autumn. Fill your pots with seed raising mix.

  2. Sow the seed approximately 2 x the depth of the seed in the soil, cover with soil and firm down.

  3. Water gently and don’t let the soil dry out during the germination process.

  4. Keep the seeds moist but not wet during germination. Sit them in a warm or sunny place. Once they are approx 5cm high, you can plant the peat pot and pellet directly into the soil.

  5. You may need to thin out the seedlings by plucking out any of the smaller seedlings to allow space for the others to grow.

  6. They can grow up to 2m high so it is a good idea to grow them against netting or a trellis. Sugar snap peas are best eaten fresh straight off the plant!

SUNFLOWER:

  2. Sow the seed approximately 2 x the depth of the seed in the soil, cover with soil and firm down.

  4. Once the seedlings are 5-10cm tall you can plant your sunflowers in full sun and space plants 20-30 cm apart.

  5. You may need to thin out the seedlings by plucking out any of the smaller seedlings to allow space for the others to grow.

  6. Sunflowers can grow to 1 - 2 metres tall and may need staking or protection from the wind with a fence near by.
